I am thrilled to share that a deep-dive article I wrote regarding West Coast Synthesis and the "soul" of the Buchla Music Easel has been features on MatrixSynth.

For those who have followed my work with PostOmnis, you know that my setup is rarely about just "plugging in and playing." It's about creating a living, breathing ecosystem. This article, titled "The 'Easel' Spirit in 3U: Rebuilding a Buchla Soul in Eurorack," documents a five-year journey of refining a 3U Eurorack system to replicated the specific workflow of the iconic Buchla Music Easel.
What's in the Article?
In the post, I break down the three pillars that I believe define the West Coast sound:
Uncertainty and Chaos: Using modules like the Wogglebug to move away from "robotic" sequencing.
The 5-Step Brain: Why the "migrating downbeat" of a 5-step sequencer is a creative superpower.
Harmonic "Origami": Exploring wavefolding with the Verbos Complex Oscillator and the organic decay of vactrol-based Low Pass Gates.

The post also includes a video demonstration of the system in action, showing how these modules come together to perform rather than just play notes.
I want to extend a huge thank you to the team at MatrixSynth for graciously hosting this piece and for their continued support of the synthesizer community.
